- Starting heavy trains on gradients
- Using the encoder signals as controlled variable for energy recovery in breaking
- Deliberate suppressing of unwanted mechanical oscillations in the drive
- Vehicle speed evaluation
- Travelled distance and position measurement

Vehicle and platform doors
- Optimised motion and position control
- Obstacle detection

Products:

What you require we provide from a wide range of standard products and the knowledge and ability to produce tailor-made solutions - quickly and economically.

Tough and reliable sensors for a harsh environment

Speed and motion sensors installed in rail vehicles are subjected to extreme environmental conditions. They have to withstand dirt and grime, oil films, water splashing and dew, frequent temperature changes and temperature extremes. In addition, they must not be adversely affected by the extreme shocks and vibrations which can occur.

The sensors from Lenord + Bauer function are using non-contact magnetic or inductive measuring principles. They comprise modern sensor elements, circuitry and design and thus offer a high electrical and mechanical robustness. Long term reliability is assured.

Flange mounted sensors for detecting rotating targets

Speed sensors with flexibility

2-channel contactless magnetic encoder

Hall-effect sensors of the MiniCoder GEL 247 range can be mounted on motors, gear boxes and in axel-end housings. The sensors are single channel for speed , dual channel for speed and direction detection or electrically isolated channels for two electronic control systems or for sensor redundancy. They can be used to detect a wide range of ferromagnetic targets.

Detection of aluminum targets

2-channel contactless magnetic encoder for electro-conducting toothed wheels.

The MiniCoder GEL 2471 operates using inductive sensors which can be used to scan targets of electrically conducting materials, not just ferromagnetic targets. The special active sensor and circuitry operate from 0 Hz for the detection of very slow movements without pulse loss.

Two sensors in one

3-channel contactless magnetic encoder.

The MiniCoder GEL 2472 accommodates two independent measuring system in one housing permitting connection of two different electronic control systems, e.g. wheel slip prevention and traction control or vehicle speed. This configuration permits the use of different supply voltages

Compact and without compromise - space saver with simple fitting.

2-channel contactless magnetic encoder

The compact sensor type MiniCoder GEL 248 is a new design for direct integration in motors or machines where space is restricted. Used to detect a target incorporated in a pulley wheel it provides an elegant solution for controlling the motion of train doors and platform doors – safely and reliably in all conditions .

High resolution hollow-shaft encoders GEL 295

High dynamic drive controls are necessary to increase the traction performance of locomotives. To achieve this, encoders with high resolution are needed. The technical solution is the encoder type GEL 295; an encoder for rail vehicles with its own housing and bearings. It has a specially designed integrated coupling which compensate for axial and radial axle movement whilst maintaining torsional rigidity needed for precise motion detection. The encoder delivers a very high pulse number with a high accuracy of the signal slopes.
